News and Events Auckland Update - November 2011
Auckland, 1 December 2011

Hi everyone,

Well it won’t be Jude from the Waikato James will be chasing this month for a report, it will be us! I am sure there is a week less in this month!

We have had a pretty full on last week or so as have taken care of our wee twenty two month old grandson from the Waikato while his mum had a false labour a week before the actual event, during the actual real event and a day or so after, and a dad that is dairy farming, one forgets what its like to have to run ones lives around a toddler! Anyway all good now and our lives slowly returning back to normal.

We had a great day out on our October club trip on the 30th  when we took a 2 ½ hour train trip on the Rain Forest Express Waitakere Watercare train up through the Waitakeres. The weather was excellent and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, despite a few unscheduled route changes due to the GPS the better half said, must have got its compass screwed up, hmmmm we wont mention any more.

Plus we also had one of our members see how many kms his car would do when the fuel gauge said empty, just as well there were some good downhill runs LOL. However one  relieved clubby when a gas station came into sight and who cared how much a litre of fuel cost :).   One of our new members has written a report for this day in this mag which will detail more about the day.

We finished up with a late lunch at the Bees Online Honey Centre and café at Waimauku which was most enjoyable. We had 30 something folk come along to this event, its very pleasing to have such good numbers wanting to be involved and coming along to club events.

Sun 20th Nov sees the FPV Drag Challenge which is always a fun day. Even though this is not one of our events its great to hear we have a few club members that are going to put their vehicles on the strip to prove again who is better, Holden or Ford ! We hope there will be a good bunch of HSV members to support even if they are not participating.

The last club cruise for the year is on Sun 27th Nov when we have a trip planned to Waihi where we will this time do a steam train trip on the Goldfields Railway up through the Karangahake Gorge with a stop at the Waikino Café for lunch. Lets hope the weather is good to us again.

Our Xmas function this year is going to be a picnic day on Sunday 11 Dec. Luke & Sharon Marinovich have kindly offered their large beach home at Maraetai. More details to come however do write this up on your calendar.

Time to start thinking about the Christmas shopping list, OMG just where has the year gone. I guess looking at the calendar right now, this will be our last report for the year as your Auckland Area Coordinators. A big thank you to all of you who have supported our events during the year, and your ongoing encouragement. We have attempted to organise a variety of events. We have only had to cancel one event due to lack of numbers, and one to poor weather, but generally pretty satisfying for us.

Reminder - the December meeting will be held at Schofields.

Take care out there as the silly season is fast approaching :)

Enjoy the festive season...
