With the World Cup well underway at the time of writing this report, HSV activities have kind of taken a bit of a back seat during the last few weeks. It has been a reasonably quiet month this one after a busy couple of previous months with HSV outings. Being passionate about rugby our weekends and evenings have been planned round watching the games which has been great.
The last Dinner & Movie night for the year at the Westwind theatre in Avondale was held on the 3rd of Sept which once again was a most enjoyable evening, with again a very good attendance of our members. These nights are very popular now with a good old kiwi roast served and enjoyed by all. The movie was "Unstoppable" and it seemed to be a popular choice. It really was great to see some of our long time members come along and was fun to hear them reminiscing the early club days. It was great to actually meet you and we hope you enjoyed your evening and look forward to you joining us at another club event soon.

Am struggling a bit this month putting something together with not a lot happening this past month on the club front other than the HSV v CCC pool challenge held last weekend in Browns Bay. Phil and I were unable to participate due to a family commitment, but sounds like those that attended did our club proud once again. Thank you to those members that did participate and represent our club.
It's Bathurst time again, guess there will be a few that will be spending the weekend of the 8th & 9th on the couch watching the racing. There are several of our club members that will be heading across the ditch to be there so no doubt we will hear all about it on their return.
The club event for October is a trip on 30th on the Waitakere Watercare train up through the Waitakeres. We have had a lot of interest in this with over 30 folk keen to come along. Because of the numbers we have chartered a whole train and they are running a special trip for us. If there is anyone else interested in coming along on this 2 ½ hour trip please let us know ASAP.
As the end of the year is approaching rapidly our calendar events are coming to an end with our November event scheduled for Sun 27th Nov. This will be a cruise to Waihi where we will take yet another train trip, but this time it will be on a steam train from Waihi to Waikino in the Karangahake gorge. We have left these train trips to the end of the year as they are much more pleasant in the finer weather, so heres hoping !
While in Waihi we will also take a look at the Waihi Gold Mine.
We are still working on a Xmas event scheduled for Dec 11th so keep this date free.
Take care out there and GO THE ALL BLACKS !!!
