News and Events Waikato Update - September 2011
Waikato, 1 October 2011
Submitted by Doug & Jude

Gosh the article comes around fast. It just seems like yesterday when I did the last one. Anyway, hope you are all well and looking forward to summer, cause I sure am!

Welcome to all new members. Hope you enjoy and get as much fun out of the club as we do.

Wow!  What an awesome weekend we had for our budget sprint. The sun was shining and the track was dry - everyone was smiling. We had a great turnout of 24 cars and I have to say, it was bloody great to see Craig Rear behind the wheel again. Good on you, Craig! Kleio, you were very brave to let him but the old saying is “you can’t keep a good man down”.  The evening was a great success, though very cold but after a nice dinner and a few bevies no-one seemed to notice. Capt Joe and Mr Bob were in fine form and boy can they tell a joke or two (and very clean they were!!! Yeah right!)

It was good to see new drivers on the track as well, they had a ball the smile on their faces told it all. One guy has to get a sprint car as he is a hard out driver the good car is not allowed back on the track (so get looking MR PICKERING).

I’d like to thank everyone that supported the sprints and to all the helpers, very much appreciated. It was also so great to have our comrades from Wellington, 6 cars. Thank you guys for making the long journey up even. Glad to see the snow didn’t deter you and you were still keen. Hope enjoyed your weekend as much as what we did.

Mark Davies has organised for us to go through 2 auto/engineering workshops at the BOP Polytec, so mark in your diaries the 29th October. I will send an email on times, meeting place etc., He has found a nice place for us to have lunch smorgasbord, $16 per head.

Finally, our heartfelt sympathy goes to the Glover family on the loss of Jeff’s Dad.
