News and Events Hawkes Bay Update - September 2011
Hawkes Bay, 1 October 2011
Submitted by Dean and Stacey

Well August came and went, and the Rugby World Cup is well underway.

At the end of August we organised a mystery cruise and invited a few other V8 Holden’s along for the ride (we had 11 cars in total).  It was great to see Rachael and the Edmonds come out with us for the afternoon.

It was a beautiful, warm day and the cruise saw us head out on some twisty parts of the country. We only had one person succumb to the perils of carsickness – which wasn’t a kid either!!

After the cruise ended we headed to the HB Sports Fishing Club for some snacks and ales.  The winners of our quiz for the day were our new members Phil and Liz.  It was great to see them come along for the cruise.

We were lucky enough to be able to attend a meet and greet with Murph at Karamu Holden.  It was a really enjoyable evening.  Thanks to the MTA for organising the event and to Jono and Kerry Stone for hosting the event.  The showroom looked fantastic and there were some awesome looking machines there. The auctions were interesting and our very own Hugh from Wairoa walked away with a very valuable piece of memorabilia.  Well done Hugh.

A couple of weekends ago Dean participated in a grass khana held by the HB Car Club.  He was lucky enough to drive a rally car for the day.  It was a fantastic day and very well run event.  The HSV club is invited to participate next year and with the rolling smooth green grass, what a fantastic opportunity to have a play.  Drop us a line if anyone from other areas are interested in this sort of event.

On Thursday 15th September the HB area is having a Movie night screening ‘Fast and the Furious 5’.  Hoping to have a catch up with members, a drink and eat lots of lollies and popcorn.

With Bathurst only a little over a month away Dean is organising the Bathurst 2011 Cruise the Tuesday night before Bathurst (Tuesday 4th October), in conjunction with Burger Fuel and the HB Holden and Ford clubs.  Anyone welcome.  Please let any friends with Aussie Muscle know and we would really love a good turnout.  We have also arranged with Karamu and Ford to have an HSV E3 GTS on display and whatever equivalent Ford has to offer.

A couple of other events coming up to keep an eye out for are:

  • HB Trucking for Child Cancer Day - HB HSV Club have been asked again this year to put on a display for this very worthy fundraiser, so anyone available for this day, it would be very much appreciated if you could attend (or your car could).  I will send out a date as soon as I hear.
  • Dyno Day - An event to be held later in the year. a chance to be able to put your treasured car on the dyno and get accurate output readings.  A reasonable rate of between $50 and $60 for 3 cycles is being looked at.

Take care and we hope to see some of you soon.
